9 Tips for Using Instagram as a Webcam Model

Here are some of the most important tips and tricks that you need to know if you’re camming and working that IG angle or DMing on the gram. Take this advice seriously and take action accordingly!

#1: Post Good Photos

Instagram is completely photo-based so you want to make sure you’re only posting good photos. As a cam girl, you and your body are your money-makers, so you should be pretty adept at making sure you are always looking good on-screen. Become the selfie queen and take as many pictures as it takes to get the “right” shot.

You should also consider using photo-editing apps to enhance what you’ve already got going on. Now, I’m not saying you should edit yourself from looking like a troll into looking like Beyonce, because that is only going to upset anyone who decides to follow you in the cam world. What I am saying is there are excellent apps for improving your photo lighting, clarity, contrast, brightness, as well as providing interesting filters and collage capabilities. Just don’t overdo it.

The best tidbit of advice I can offer on posting good photos is to make sure they’re clear, high-quality, colorful, realistic, and interesting. More interest=more followers.

#2: Post at the Right Time

Before you post your amazing-looking photos to Instagram, you want to consider when they’re most likely going to be seen. The majority of Instagram users check in the morning, in the evening, and on the way home from work. According to the stat-gathering company, Simply Measured, the best time to post on the old ‘Gram is on a Wednesday between 5-6:00 PM.

For someone promoting their brand, which you’re doing as a cam model, the worst time to post is overnight. See, Instagram posts only have about a four-hour life before they are buried in followers feed. Consider when your followers are most likely to be on Instagram and make your posts accordingly.

hashtag

#3: Use Appropriate Hashtags…But Use Them Sparingly

Have you ever looked at someone’s post and seen that they have what seems like hundreds of hashtags? It’s annoying and half the time those hashtags don’t even match up with what that person posted.

Hashtags definitely improve the visibility of your photos and can help you to get new followers who may not know anything about you. To ensure that you’re using the right hashtags for what you’re promoting, give Google a little search. You can also consider using the most popular tags, which include: #tbt (Throwback Thursday), #cammodels, #camgirl, and #followme.

I would recommend that you avoid the hashtag paragraph at the end of your photo and stick with 1-3 relevant hashtags per photo to avoid pics that look cluttered.

post on IG

#4: Post Often

If you want to keep your regular followers interested, and the new ones curious, you have got to post new content on a regular basis. Too many cam models start an account, blast it with pictures and content, then let it fall off.

This doesn’t mean you have to blast out 100 photos a day. In fact, posting once a day, or once every other day is enough to keep everyone happy and avoid losing followers who get bored waiting on you. If you don’t keep your posts on Instagram on a fairly regular basis, don’t be surprised when you lose followers.

#5: Interact with Your Followers

The biggest mistake you can make as a cam girl using Instagram is to ignore your followers. By not responding to your most loyal followers is a surefire way to drive them away. You want them to feel valued, not ignored, and underappreciated.

Make sure to respond to their comments and go to their account to “like” a few of their pics. If you want to figure out who are your biggest followers, you can use an app like Iconosquare to track comments and see which users are interacting with you the most.

sending DMs on IG

#6: Contact Your Followers on DM (Direct Messaging)

Something that goes hand-in-hand with interaction is using direct messaging (DM’s and same goes for Snapchat). You want to keep your account going with pictures as much as you can, but sometimes you want to save something for those followers who are your most loyal. This is where you want to utilize the DM’s to send those users something a little more special; something you’re not planning on sharing with the general public.

instagram contest

#7: Host a Contest

One of the best ways to encourage engagement is to host an Instagram contest for your followers. Not only will that get them excited, you can set rules that will help increase your following, such as having them tag a set number of friends to make their entry valid. Just make sure you make good on that contest and award the winner their prize, whatever that might be.

buy followers

#8: Never Buy Instagram Followers

Buying Instagram followers has received a lot of attention lately and while some people think it is a good idea, I’m not one of them. You see, you can get a nice chunk of followers for a decent price, but most of those supposed followers are inactive accounts. If your account shows that you have over 20,000 followers, but you have almost no follower interaction, it’s a sign to real users that your account is cheesy, possibly fake, and not worth checking out.

To be successful on Instagram, you want to stick with real followers and not give in to the temptation to bump up your numbers, so they look good on paper.

#9: Use Shoutouts

It’s just basic math: the more followers you can reach out to, the better for your brand. Shoutouts are another way to increase that following. Shoutouts are basically two users agreeing to give the other person a shoutout on their own account. This is a way to market yourself and get promoted to followers who may not be familiar with you.

The method of using shoutouts can definitely increase your follower count by thousands, so give it a try.

Conclusion: Instagram is a Great Tool for Web Cam Models

As a webcam model, a lot of your work will be in promoting yourself. Many models think that staying on their chosen camming platform will be enough to get them the money they want to make, but that just isn’t true. Any woman who wants to be truly successful in the cam world needs to work on cross-promotion to get themselves out there in the world.

Social media has exploded in the past few years and it remains one of the best ways to drive up interest in what you’re selling, which is essentially yourself. If you want a way to do it quickly, easily, and with a site that has tons of users, Instagram is the way to go.

The Different Types Of Webcam Girls

If you’re a cam girl and you’re concerned about not fitting in, then fear not! There are plenty of different types of webcam girls who are streaming daily. These girls are no different from you and I want you to understand the various types of girls who cam regularly. This article covers that and then some.

Types of Cam Girls

Different Types of Cam Girls

The Anonymous Cam girl: A model who likes to stay anonymous, log on, make that money, and then be done for the day. They may run a Twitter account or an Instagram, but usually keep it private and don’t promote much, other than to have a place where their regulars and fans can find them and keep in touch outside of their cam times.

The “CeWEBrity” Cam Model: A model that wants to create a brand and maximize earning potential/accessibility etc., by creating a demand for that brand.

The Pornstar Webcam Girl: This is a girl who is not afraid to do porn or create hardcore content. She’s well known and often already cashes in major on OnlyFans, FanTime, ManyVids, and Camsoda.

All the types are badass bitches who hustle and make those dollar, dollar bills y’all (can I get an AMEN!?) However, for the sake of me saving you time (since we all know that time is money) I’m going to put a DISCLAIMER on this one.

This article is going to be focusing on branding; specifically through cross-promotion, so if you’re wanting to slay that anonymous lifestyle, you might not find much to help you out here. (Except for the endorphins that reading this will no doubt create.)

Branding For Different Types Of Cam Models

In my opinion, cross-promotion is hands down one of the most important aspects of branding and all-around brand awareness, which will result in increased sales of your product. (Your product is your content, your cam shows, and most important of them all: YOU)

Personally, I am on the following social media platforms:

*Twitter

*Instagram

*Snapchat

*Periscope

*Tumblr – Not as active as I once was here.

*TikTok – This is the latest social craze and it’s taking the world by storm. Keep a close watch on this!

I know what some of you are thinking. Why so many? That sounds like it will take a lot of time that could be spent camming or doing other things. While I agree that it is time-consuming (and secretly I hate all social media) it’s a necessary evil to both the demand and accessibility of your brand.

If you aren’t already, I highly recommend being on every platform possible. (save for Facebook, but that’s a whole different article)

This brings me to my next point. The basics of economics, supply, and demand. The supply is your product and the demand is created by you.

In this day and age, and especially in the adult industry you MUST create your own demand. Nobody else is going to do it for you, and this is a situation where the phrase “I get out of it what I put into it” should be your mantra.

Nobody knows what they want to buy until you tell them. Why is the iPhone so popular? The company always builds up to the release date. Apple creates the demand and then supplies the product. You should be doing the same thing and the way to do it is free. Cross Promotion.

Overview Of An Average Day On Social Media

Here’s an average day for me on social media:

Step 1.) Say good morning on Snapchat and let them know I’ll be on Periscope in 10 min (insert Periscope name and Twitter handle so they know where to go)

Step 2.) Get on Periscope and live broadcast for a few minutes. When I am about to log off I tell them to follow me on Snapchat if they want to see what I’m doing through the day. If I’m about to go live on cam I tell them where they can go sign up to keep hanging out with me. (Make sure you aren’t spamming, the key is subtlety.)

Step 3.) Log onto Twitter and have promoters RT “Live Periscope stream” and quote the tweet myself saying if they missed me, to follow so they catch it next time! This will get more people to re-play my broadcast, give me hearts and increase my popularity making the broadcast reach more people.

Step 4.) Post a pic on Snapchat saying the same thing “Miss me on Periscope? Broadcast is still available! Go watch it now!”

Step 5.) Save the pic from Snapchat and post it on Instagram telling them to follow my Twitter and add me on Periscope so they can talk with me live.

Step 6) Post on Snapchat/Twitter/Instagram through the day with links to where they can find me on other platforms. (Ex. Post a pic on Twitter and write the link to your Instagram. Post a pic on Instagram and tell them where to find you on Twitter.)

Step 7.) End the night with an after-cam session on Periscope. (these can be quick. 5-10 minutes) Saying goodnight, having inside jokes with the guys who were hanging out in my cam room.. Creating demand of people wanting to have the same type of “friendship” with me.

… you get the idea. Everything is connected and people want to feel like they know you. Branding is all about injecting personality in a product and YOU are the product that you will be convincing them to invest in. (and yes, I use the word invest. To you, it’s a consumer making a purchase…

To everyone who is parting with that $10-$50-$100, it’s an investment of their money to receive something they are hoping will be worth it in the long run, and will continue to invest in if it is. There is an initial risk factor for the buyer that should always be taken into consideration.)

Conclusion: A Few Things To Remember

All of that being said, there are a few important things to remember. You MUST master the art of subtle selling. Don’t push it in their faces, and don’t only post links to where they can purchase products. People don’t invest in desperation, they invest in something that everyone wants.

The trick is to create the illusion that everything is their idea, while always keeping it fresh in their minds. Subliminal Perception, if you will. Ever hear about how back in the old days they would insert quick flashes of Coca-cola products or a picture of popcorn in movie previews? It would happen so fast you wouldn’t consciously know that you were seeing it, however, some studies showed that it would increase the volume in sales at the concession stands. They did the same thing in World War II, with subliminal messaging by using a tachistoscope (a machine that projects images extremely briefly and rapidly) to teach soldiers how to spot enemy planes.

Cross-promotion is, in essence, the same idea. By constantly putting yourself in their faces, it will create a sense of familiarity in their mind. You’ll notice people start to WANT to see you in their faces, so much so that they will start putting you in OTHER peoples’ faces, who will then want to find out more about you and see if they also want you all up in their grill. Alas, with cross-promotion you have created a virtual snowball effect.

Damn, see all that demand? You created that ish. Now be proud and keep yourself there.
