Avoiding Webcam Scams (Must-Know Tips)

Scams happen all the time. You need to be on alert 24/7 if you’re a cam girl. This article paves the path for models looking to understand how to avoid webcam scams. If you’re not thinking about this, then you are definitely getting scammed now or in the future – TRUST ME. This is perhaps the most important thing you might read today. Find out how to avoid getting completely ripped off by camming consumers today.

How To Avoid Being Scammed On Webcam

Scammer. Scam-artist. Connoisseur of the Scam. Zé art of zé scam. No matter how you slice and dice it, the fact remains the same. If it seems to be too good to be true, it usually is.
Here’s the deal, kids. In this industry, we’re all going to be victims of the attempted scam. Granted, some of them are miserable excuses of an attempt and can hardly be considered “scam worthy” but once in a while, every so often you get the diamond in the rough. The one that either almost gets you, or (god forbid) actually does.

These guys are professionals. Not to be taken lightly. If you aren’t careful, they will come in and steal your sunshine, your panties, your content, and your happiness. So, how do we help prevent these nasty predators from succeeding in their disgusting, freeloading ways?

Stay On Gaurd 24/7

First things first, never let your guard down. Scammers are always looking for a way to sneak in through the cracks and get you to trust them before they pull a bait and switch on you and get a bunch of free sh*t. There are going to be the ones who pretend to be “promoters” on social media and say things like “Hey babe, want a shout out? Can I get some personal nudes and maybe your Snapchat in return?” (ugh. Go die, please.)

AMZN + Paypal Scams

Then you’re going to get the “Paypal. BB? Amazon Gift Cards BB?” guys. The rare occasion does happen where these are really guys asking if you accept this form of payment, but more often than not scammers will send you fake gift cards, send you PayPal and then report your account and get their money back, etc.

Because of this, it’s super important to be extremely informed about all the ways you do accept payment, and never waiver on what you’re comfortable with receiving until you do your research.

Trickle Coin Tony

Then you’re going to get the guys who might even drop a little bit of money on you at first. I call these guys “trickle coin tony.” These are the quintessential starting line-up of the game. They make you think they are legit by purchasing something, might be a big thing, might be a small thing… And then they try to scam you out of your panties by saying that they will “send the money tomorrow.”

Common phrases attached to these kinds are:

“I’m going to take care of you”

“I can’t use a credit card anymore because I don’t want it on my statement”

“I’ll send everything later, you know I’m good for it.”

“I got you.” “I see you” or any other variation on this stupid phrase.

Nope. No. No way, no how.

These guys are trying to get you to lower your guard because hey, they’ve spent on you before, right? That must mean that they are always going to spend on you with their thousands of dollars. Even if they don’t right away… It will pay off in the long haul, right? WRONG-O!

No Rule Bending – Ever

This brings me right into my second point. Do not bend the rules for anybody, unless you are 100% certain that they are legitimate, and even then… be wary. There are many a tale of the regular turned freeloader who pillaged and plundered his way through all the naïve camgirls by land and sea, so stay firm in your guidelines and make them either follow them or leave.

Always read through EVERYTHING (yes, even the fine print), and then if you’re not sure, google it and make sure. Check, and then double-check….and then go back and check it again!
Basically, just make sure to cover all your bases and always be informed, because some of these guys are good. Like…Tom Hardy in everything he’s in kind of good. Not amateur, not easy to spot, and will 9/10 times get the scam stamped with a big red COMPLETE.

Example Time!!

Guy wants Snapchat. He says he’s new at purchasing these kinds of things, acts like he tries to set up any accounts he needs to in order to pay and claims that it won’t work. Asks if he can send a gift card. He sends a “gift card” that asks for you to put in all of your legal and banking information and requires you to start an account in order to “redeem” the money. See where this is going?

This is a great scam because it provides the model with the illusion that he is trying hard to purchase content and is having a hard time. His goal here is to create a sense of guilt so that you will give in to accepting a gift card payment that you don’t normally accept. Then he slides in with one that will be extremely easy for him to either get your information from, or to get a refund on his money after he receives what he’s “paying” for.

The Agency Scam

Another popular scam is the “modeling agency” or the “magazine photographer” that will contact you on social media and say they are interested in shooting (or insert any other appropriate term for what they are claiming here).

Ask For References

Never be afraid to ask for references and samples of their work. It’s common practice to ask for references on an application, and why wouldn’t you want to fully screen anyone that you’re considering working with anyway?

If they can’t provide references, past models they’ve worked with who you can reach out with, samples of their previous work, or proof of what they are saying they can do for you, then move along. They are either scamming you or else they are unbelievably unprofessional, and you shouldn’t want to work with them anyway.

Conclusion

This could turn into a novel on its own if I kept going into details about all of the different ways that people have either tried with me or one of my cam friends, but suffice it to say that if you run your career like it’s a business, you will be able to avoid the majority of the scammers. Keep an eye out, be smart, be safe and if you do encounter a scammer, call them out on social media to warn the other models.

Webcam Whitelabels: Every Model Needs One!

Did you know that you can have your very own webcam site? Seriously! Many models don’t know this, but it’s very easy to brand your name as a webcam site through the use of a Whitelabel. Today I’m going to be sharing everything I know about Whitelabel cam sites and why you might consider creating one yourself.

A note: Many models may think that this is taking away from themselves and sending to other models, but the truth is, many consumers are going to cam with other girls anyway. So, to make the most money, you might as well try and cash in on those connections as well. You can do this with a Whitelabel!

Second note: This is a topic that I’m updating. I covered this in the past and just want to point things out again this year.

Webcam Whitelabels

Whitelabels: The Ins/The Outs and Why You Should Have One

If you’re a camgirl, then you probably know about white labels already, and like most other models in the business have a deep-rooted, intense hatred for the affiliates of white labels and everything that comes along with it.

Of course by saying “everything that comes along with it” I mean the horrible affiliates that are usually behind the scenes of the white labels, screenshotting your pics, recording your shows to upload onto tube sites, and being a general pain in the ass when you decide that you want them to take down your videos. (DMCA’S BITCHES!)

I know, and I agree with the fact that some of the affiliates that are the ones running these white labels are complete jerks who have no idea what it’s like to be on the other side of the industry. (Side note: This isn’t always the case. It’s one of those, the few bad apples make it harder on the rest of them) All they care about is the bottom line and making money, which is understandable. However, my motto in life is “If you can’t get out of something, get into it” and that applies here just as much as any other place.

White Labels Bring Us Consumers

White Labels are a part of the camming industry. It makes sense. The cam companies are, in essence, paying affiliates to bring traffic to the site by giving them a percentage of all the sales that they bring in.

There are white label opportunities for almost every major cam site, and there is no reason to limit yourself to only one, but just for the sake of streamlining this article, we’re going to focus on Cambuilder.com, which is Streamate’s Whitelabel program. There are a couple of reasons why I am choosing Cambuilder, one of which being that it is the white label I use, as well as being the most popular option out of all the affiliate programs out there.

There are five options that you can choose from as far as payouts go on Cambuilder.com.

35% Lifetime Revenue Share

$75 per spender + 30% Lifetime Revenue Share

$30 per join + 30% Lifetime Revenue Share

$100 per spender

$40 per join

All of them have their pros and cons, but if you’re in it for the long haul for long-term passive income, 35% rev-share for life is the best plan overall.

They’re All Quite Similar

Regardless of which Whitelabel you decide to use, the inner workings are all pretty much the same. They will offer you a rev-share of the sales that you bring in. As a model, it doesn’t make sense to NOT take advantage of this.

Even if the only time you promote the white label is when you are getting online, if you get sign-ups it guarantees that no matter who they spend on, you are making money. (In Cambuilder.com’s case, 35% off every model they spend on, which would be the exact same as if they were spending on you.)

Post Registration

After the signup, it’s a relatively painless process. You, of course, need to purchase a domain name for your white label. This can be whatever you wish for it to be, but keeping it simple and easy to remember is going to be your best bet.

After you have the domain name purchased, it’s time to set up your white label. On Cambuilder.com it gives you easy-to-use templates that let you customize the look and feel of your site. It literally “click and point” easy. You can upload your own logos, change the color theme, change the size and the look of the model’s icons, etc.

Promote Yourself & Other Cam Girls

After that first step, the next step is going to be promoting your white label. A lot of models that I know only use their domain when they are getting online. While that works wonderfully, I feel like it is a missed opportunity. The second that I got a white label, I reached out to other models who either had one themselves or models on the site asking them if they would be okay with me promoting them…I haven’t had a single one say no yet.

Conclusion: Just Start One

This brings me to my major point. IF YOU ARE A CAM MODEL THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE A WHITE LABEL. Look, nothing is going to change overnight. There are always going to be some bad apple affiliates running the white labels that bring us the shitty traffic, treat us like dirt and give every other affiliate out there a bad name.

But if you can’t get out of it, get into it. If you don’t like something, then be part of the change. Think about how different it would be if models all created white labels and traded promotional material.

Not only are you supporting each other in the industry, but all of a sudden you have so much more promo available to you versus the affiliates that only have your shows they recorded, and have models breathing down their neck to take them down.

Add on top of that fact that, as a model, you have much more incentive to give people for signing up. “Sign up, spend $5 and get a free vid!” Kind of deals, that will start having checks show up in your mailbox without you ever getting on cam. Passive income ladies, now let’s all get together and get rich. 😉

Final Note: You also should really check out Camsoda.com because they have an incredible whitelabel and team that supports models in any way needed. I strongly suggest that if you’re a Camsoda model, then get your own Camsoda whitelabel going ASAP! It’s a great way to make money on Camsoda – EASY!

Instagram Advice For Models

Instagram is one of the hottest social media outlets going right now. Not only is Instagram easy to use, but you also don’t need to compose a whole lot of written content; people are using Instagram to see pictures and as a cam model, that’s really your calling card.

If you’re new to Instagram (check out this platform’s profile), or you haven’t thought about using the social media site to further your cam career, it’s time you started thinking about it!

Before you jump onto Instagram and start flooding it with your pictures, consider these 9 tips that will help you to make the best out of your Instagram experience and increase your followers and engagement, thus increasing your chances of making big bucks in your cam modeling career.

instagram tips

9 Tips for Using Instagram as a Webcam Model

Here are some of the most important tips and tricks that you need to know if you’re camming and working that IG angle or DMing on the gram. Take this advice seriously and take action accordingly!

#1: Post Good Photos

Instagram is completely photo-based so you want to make sure you’re only posting good photos. As a cam girl, you and your body are your money-makers, so you should be pretty adept at making sure you are always looking good on-screen. Become the selfie queen and take as many pictures as it takes to get the “right” shot.

You should also consider using photo-editing apps to enhance what you’ve already got going on. Now, I’m not saying you should edit yourself from looking like a troll into looking like Beyonce, because that is only going to upset anyone who decides to follow you in the cam world. What I am saying is there are excellent apps for improving your photo lighting, clarity, contrast, brightness, as well as providing interesting filters and collage capabilities. Just don’t overdo it.

The best tidbit of advice I can offer on posting good photos is to make sure they’re clear, high-quality, colorful, realistic, and interesting. More interest=more followers.

instagram selfies

#2: Post at the Right Time

Before you post your amazing-looking photos to Instagram, you want to consider when they’re most likely going to be seen. The majority of Instagram users check in the morning, in the evening, and on the way home from work. According to the stat-gathering company, Simply Measured, the best time to post on the old ‘Gram is on a Wednesday between 5-6:00 PM.

For someone promoting their brand, which you’re doing as a cam model, the worst time to post is overnight. See, Instagram posts only have about a four-hour life before they are buried in followers feed. Consider when your followers are most likely to be on Instagram and make your posts accordingly.

hashtag

#3: Use Appropriate Hashtags…But Use Them Sparingly

Have you ever looked at someone’s post and seen that they have what seems like hundreds of hashtags? It’s annoying and half the time those hashtags don’t even match up with what that person posted.

Hashtags definitely improve the visibility of your photos and can help you to get new followers who may not know anything about you. To ensure that you’re using the right hashtags for what you’re promoting, give Google a little search. You can also consider using the most popular tags, which include: #tbt (Throwback Thursday), #cammodels, #camgirl, and #followme.

I would recommend that you avoid the hashtag paragraph at the end of your photo and stick with 1-3 relevant hashtags per photo to avoid pics that look cluttered.

post on IG

#4: Post Often

If you want to keep your regular followers interested, and the new ones curious, you have got to post new content on a regular basis. Too many cam models start an account, blast it with pictures and content, then let it fall off.

This doesn’t mean you have to blast out 100 photos a day. In fact, posting once a day, or once every other day is enough to keep everyone happy and avoid losing followers who get bored waiting on you. If you don’t keep your posts on Instagram on a fairly regular basis, don’t be surprised when you lose followers.

#5: Interact with Your Followers

The biggest mistake you can make as a cam girl using Instagram is to ignore your followers. By not responding to your most loyal followers is a surefire way to drive them away. You want them to feel valued, not ignored, and underappreciated.

Make sure to respond to their comments and go to their account to “like” a few of their pics. If you want to figure out who are your biggest followers, you can use an app like Iconosquare to track comments and see which users are interacting with you the most.

sending DMs on IG

#6: Contact Your Followers on DM (Direct Messaging)

Something that goes hand-in-hand with interaction is using direct messaging (DM’s and same goes for Snapchat). You want to keep your account going with pictures as much as you can, but sometimes you want to save something for those followers who are your most loyal. This is where you want to utilize the DM’s to send those users something a little more special; something you’re not planning on sharing with the general public.

instagram contest

#7: Host a Contest

One of the best ways to encourage engagement is to host an Instagram contest for your followers. Not only will that get them excited, you can set rules that will help increase your following, such as having them tag a set number of friends to make their entry valid. Just make sure you make good on that contest and award the winner their prize, whatever that might be.

buy followers

#8: Never Buy Instagram Followers

Buying Instagram followers has received a lot of attention lately and while some people think it is a good idea, I’m not one of them. You see, you can get a nice chunk of followers for a decent price, but most of those supposed followers are inactive accounts. If your account shows that you have over 20,000 followers, but you have almost no follower interaction, it’s a sign to real users that your account is cheesy, possibly fake, and not worth checking out.

To be successful on Instagram, you want to stick with real followers and not give in to the temptation to bump up your numbers, so they look good on paper.

#9: Use Shoutouts

It’s just basic math: the more followers you can reach out to, the better for your brand. Shoutouts are another way to increase that following. Shoutouts are basically two users agreeing to give the other person a shoutout on their own account. This is a way to market yourself and get promoted to followers who may not be familiar with you.

The method of using shoutouts can definitely increase your follower count by thousands, so give it a try.

Conclusion: Instagram is a Great Tool for Web Cam Models

As a webcam model, a lot of your work will be in promoting yourself. Many models think that staying on their chosen camming platform will be enough to get them the money they want to make, but that just isn’t true. Any woman who wants to be truly successful in the cam world needs to work on cross-promotion to get themselves out there in the world.

Social media has exploded in the past few years and it remains one of the best ways to drive up interest in what you’re selling, which is essentially yourself. If you want a way to do it quickly, easily, and with a site that has tons of users, Instagram is the way to go.

Cams.com Review

If you’ve read my recently published Jerkmate.com review then you know that I’m trying to help both consumers and models have more informed experiences when using cam sites today.

Having covered so many of the sites out there, I know what to look for, what’s important for models to know and what’s important for cam consumers to know as well.

I’ve covered all I know about Cams.com today. This review should help you make an informed decision as to whether it’s a good choice for you.

Remember, you literally have so many webcam sites to choose from and that makes this a really important decision. Whether you are trying to become a cam model or you’re trying to use it as a consumer, you need to do your research.

cams.com review

Details About Cams.com You Need To Know

There are a ton of different cam sites out there and it can tough to find one that’s perfect for you. That’s why trying out as many as you can will give you the best chance of success.

If you don’t have the time or money to go to all of the different sites, check out Cams.com for yourself. It’s about as straightforward as a cam site can be.

In fact, it can be the basis that you judge all other cam sites against. The quality is always great and there are tons of models from all over the world.

Who Needs It

This is a cam site for anyone who loves variety in their cam sites. Not all of them offer this type of variety, so I truly value this factor. You get a little bit of everything here.

If you’re a consumer, you can check out skinny girls, curvy girls, couples, blondes, brunettes, mature women, and teens at any time that you want.

I’d also like to add that the cams.com site has been around for a very long time and it’s very well-known. There are thousands of women like myself on it at any given moment and they all want to have a little fun on cam.

That’s really what makes it a premier cam destination for anyone who loves to interact with them.

Cams.com

The Pros

There are a ton of pros when it comes to this site. The biggest one is the number of models on it at any time of the night or day. Anyone can become one of these models. Sure, it means there are lots of models to compete against but competition is healthy!

In fact, the link to apply is right on the site for anyone who wants to try it out. As for the model’s physical appearances, there’s every “body type” imaginable here and it’s all searchable right on the site.

A few clicks is going to bring you to tons of cams that exactly fit what you’re looking for. That’s something that can keep you coming back every single day. Is it better than Camsoda.com? Not a chance, but it’s still pretty damn good in my humble opinion.

What You Get Joining

Signing up is going to get you 100 free tokens to use right away. You can spend them however you want with no restrictions.

There are also tons of pornstars on the site. You can interact with the women you see in porn videos any time you want.

You get stats for any model that you come across. Yes, within seconds just like other sites, you can see her age, height, bra size, hair color and everything else.

Also, the free chat is also unlimited after you sign up. If you’re a model, then you can also earn a whole lot of money if you decide to cam on the site. It’s open to anyone with a cam and internet connection.

Conclusion

This is just an all-around great cam site for anyone to use. They have it all and it’s not going to be going anywhere any time soon, trust me on that. All you have to do is sign up to see it all for yourself.

Check it out whenever you can and you’re not going to be disappointed with it at all.

Again, for consumers looking to chat, the models will always be willing to do anything at all that you want (for the most part) if you have the credits to pay for requests. I’d say this is a cam site worth looking into today.

Now, if you’re looking for other sites, then I must suggest that you read this page in its entirety, especially before joining this site or any other cam sites.

Selena Adams on Cam

Getting To Know, Top Webcam Model, Selena Adams

Here are some of the questions that we asked Selena Adams when interviewing her. We pretty much covered all things camming-related, but you might find some more information as well.

What do you normally do when you are on cam?

Typically, I do a few things to help me stay relaxed while I’m online: I’ll turn on some of my favorite music and dance around, which is always a fan favorite when they get to see me shake my booty; I try to chat with my fans as much as possible and sometimes I have these very interesting conversations with them, you’d be surprised about some of the stuff they talk about; I’ll also turn on the tv and watch some of my favorite shows in the background, you know just to keep up with the season. I try my best to keep my stress level down when I work.

How do you feel when you are working?

I typically feel good, especially when my followers are keeping me active. I do try to avoid logging on when I’m in a bad/sad mood since it affects the energy of the room.

Are you able to easily tell new boyfriends/lovers about your work? If yes, how do they react?

I’m open about what I do and yes I do tell them about my work. Now easily is a different story as they tend to struggle with some jealously. Who wouldn’t be a bit jealous of having their girlfriend be hit on, talked dirty, seeing them on cam, and sending them gifts by many fans. But it’s part of the profession.

How has it changed you in terms of your attitudes to sex and in the bedroom when you are having sex?

When you cam, you get to experience a lot of different things through the fans with what they request and with what they like to show you. And because of this, in my actual relationship have become more selective with the type of person and what we do in the bedroom.

What are some of the craziest fantasies that guys come up with?

Sometimes, they like to pretend that they are under my bed spying on me while I do my thing. Others like to pretend that their wife/girlfriend is in the next room while they are being naughty with me. Then there is the I’m the wife’s/girlfriend’s friend and you can guess where that leads to.

What is your opinion on the male species after working in the industry?

This is a difficult question. I only get to see a portion of the male behavior through camming and I still haven’t really figured them out. But what I can say, there are a handful of horny men out there.

What is your ultimate fantasy?

Wow, my ultimate fantasy, let me think… It starts off with me at my front door about to enter my home when suddenly I am grabbed from behind by a man. With my chest against the door, he puts my hands over my head. He begins to kiss my neck and shoulders. He suddenly turns me around and continues to kiss my face, neck, and cleavage area.

He then picks me up and I wrap my legs around him. He opens the door and carries me up the stairs as we continue to kiss. He throws me on the bed and begins to strip me down to my bra and panty. I rip open his button shirt causing his buttons to fly everywhere.

I begin to kiss his chest and work my way down to his crotch. I unbutton his jeans and remove them off his body. He grabs my hair and tells me to stand. He looks into my eyes and kisses me right on the lips. He then throws me down on the bed face up and begins to slowly nibble me all over the body.

He slowly works his way down from my neck to my chest, removing my bra, kissing my breasts. He begins to suck on my nipples. With every sucking motion, I begin to get aroused as my nipples begin to harden. He slowly has my nipples rock hard, he then continues to move down eventually reaching my private area.

He teases my vagina on top of my panty. He kisses my inner thighs and at this point, I’m so aroused that my vagina is wet and begins to leak through the panty. He then rips them off… well I’ll let you imagine the rest but let’s say we end up making love all night long.

What are the positives from the work and what would you recommend to anyone wanting to get into it?

There are a couple of positives about this work. The first is you can set your own schedule, work when it best suits you. The second is financial freedom. You can make good money if you are willing to put effort into it.

Do you have any words of wisdom for girls wanting to become cam models?

For those new models, I have two things to say to them. First, you’re working as an independent contractor so don’t forget to set aside some money so you’re able to pay the taxes when tax season comes along.

Second, don’t give up easily. It does take some time to build your fan base so just keep at it. One good piece of advice to keep in touch with your fans is to use one of the various texting apps. I currently use Skype to stay in contact with my fans nearly 24/7.

What is your proudest accomplishment from being a cam girl?

Everyone has goals that they are trying to accomplish and I have had this goal for some time now that will be my proudest accomplishment once it is completed this year. I don’t want to mention exactly what it is because I don’t want to jinx it before it is done.

What is your favorite food?

Well, I got to say that my favorite food is a Bandeja Paisa. For those who don’t know what this is, it’s a traditional Colombian dish that typically contains beans, rice, chicharrón (fried pork belly), Carne en Polvo ( powdered like beef) or grilled beef/pork, chorizo, fried egg, ripe plantain, avocado, and arepa. Trust me, if you haven’t tried it, you should.

What is something that rocks your world?

This might be a bit strange for you but it is something that really excites me. When I’m able to pay something off where it now belongs to me, I get aroused to the point I get a bit wet. I guess it’s my fetish.

I love my fans because…

They make my work interesting. Apart from being horny and entertaining, they’re also funny and sweet. They know how to make a girl smile.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

When it comes to working, I have to say beggars – the guys that constantly ask for things for free. Then when I don’t do what they asked for, they get mad at me even though I mention they need to tip or go private. Some just don’t understand that this is my source of income and if I give it away then I won’t be able to pay my bills.

First thing I do when I wake up in the morning:

As I wake up in the morning and stretch my naked body out across my bed, I try to figure out what needs to be done today. If I don’t have anything to do, I just get ready for work. But if I have things to do, I finish those first then I get ready for work. I try to make this a daily ritual so I don’t let things pile up.

The last thing I do before falling asleep:

My nightly ritual, which sometimes I do wearing just shorts/panties or even sometimes completely naked, is to go into my bathroom, look in the mirror, give myself some words of encouragement, remove my makeup and brush my teeth before I jump into bed to recharge my battery.

Conclusion: Wrapping Things Up

A special thanks to Selene Adams for everything that she shared with us. We truly appreciate it and thanks for helping out the fellow cam girls such as myself who are trying to make it happen! You’re an inspiration to all of us.

Webcam Model Forum Etiquette

Webcam forums are filled with people. Like TONS of people and that makes it really hard to control all things, all the time. If you’re unsure as to how to conduct yourself, then this article will certainly help you understand more about the topic. One thing I cannot stand is consumers and models with poor forum etiquette. This article explains everything you need to know about conducting yourself properly on forums.

Webcam Forum Etiquette

Cam Model Forum Etiquette

There are tons of forums out there, maybe you have experience with most of them, but then again maybe you don’t. Hey, I’m not one to judge. At least until you start to wile out like you’re the mean girl in a 1980’s movie. (Trust me, girl, that is never okay and people WILL be laughing at you if you’re actin’ a fool on forums for everyone to see.)

On a serious note, if you haven’t ever checked out forums, there are some that can be really helpful. Just a quick google search and you will be able to open up a world that you never knew existed. An entire community of other sex workers that support each other and become lifelong friends. There are forums out there that let you interact with your fans and create new fans with a really immersive community-type feel, and industry forums where you can network with hundreds of industry moguls.

That being said, there are definitely things that you need to take into consideration when you’re deciding to sign up and become an active member.

Things To Consider Before Starting Threads

Before starting a new thread to start a topic or ask a question, make sure that the answer isn’t already out there in another thread.

I have seen newbies on forums torn apart because they didn’t take the time to look around and read the previous threads, or do any research on their own. I hate to say it, but most of the time it’s a thread started about the simplest question, where the answer has been talked about a million times already.

Here’s the deal…

All of us take the time to get on these forums and give advice, offer support, share our tricks and tips with people (newbies to the cam game included) so it’s almost like a slap in the face when someone comes on the forum that no one has ever heard of and doesn’t take the time to put a little work into figuring out some things about breaking into the cam industry on their own.

Don’t take it personally. You need to understand that it seems as though every other week there is a wave of new cam girls that come barreling in thinking that it’s all rainbows, sunshine, and butterflies shooting out of our asses, over here. They think they’re going to make $3000 their first week out, and all it takes is an ass smack or a titty shake.

Pro Tip: Just because you’re pretty and cute and all the boys in your high school wanted to bang you, doesn’t mean that you’re going to succeed as a cam model.

So for someone to walk in and expect us to give them the secrets to success like it’s a spirit stick from Bring It On (the original, obviously) is insulting. If we all did it the hard way, so can you. Especially since you might not last more than 2 months once you realize it really isn’t all that easy. At the end of the day, every model is our competition, and the fact that we all decide to get on and share trade secrets should be respected, not taken for granted.

Use your time wisely, read the forum, and comment in other threads for a few months before starting your own. Become a part of the community and you’re going to have a much better result.

Always make sure to read the TOS for the forum.

This sounds like an easy one to remember, and maybe it is and people just decide to break the rules, but either way please do yourself a favor and make sure that you know what is and isn’t allowed to be talked about before you start rambling off at the fingertips.

Understand what type of forum you are on.

If you’re on a forum where there’s a group of sex workers that all talk and support each other, make sure you aren’t posting threads and trying to spam for promotion or with referral links to your affiliate sites/items. That’s rude and disrespects the safe space that they have created and culminated for so long.

Interact With Fans

If you’re on a forum where the key point is to interact with fans, then make sure that you are actually taking the time to talk one on one with them (Great example: FreeOnes) and utilizing the platform to recruit new fans and build some solid relationships. That’s why the guys are on there, to be able to talk to their favorite porn stars/adult models, not to just read post after post about what’s new on your website that they should join.

If you’re on an Industry forum make sure that you are keeping it professional. Everyone enjoys a good laugh, but if you start spouting off without regret, you will create a bad name for yourself very quickly, word will spread and people will not want to work with you. You never know when you’re going to need connections so networking is a really important piece to building any career. Don’t burn bridges unnecessarily.

Treat everyone with R-E-S-P-E-C-T

I feel like this one should definitely go without saying, but *sigh* some people these days just don’t know how to do this. I’ve said this before and gotten the “Well, you have to give respect to get it” line. Everybody deserves respect to start with until they give you a reason to take it away. So when someone is genuinely trying to help you, or pointing something out about a rule on the forum, don’t respond with a snarky comeback.

Take all advice (yes even constructive criticism) and use it to improve. Whether it’s by NOT using the advice given or by actually using it. It still will teach you what/what not to do… and we can always be improving our craft.

Conclusion: Chat On Forums Now That You Know The Rules

So go out there and start to network and become part of the forum world communities. If you need a list of the top webcam forums for webcam models, you can click here. There is a lot of fun that you can have and a lot that you can learn. Just don’t be a giant twat waffle about it.

The Webcam Troll

Dealing with time wasters and trolls on cam is part of the job. There’s no way around this one. You absolutely MUST deal with it – unfortunately. But, it doesn’t have to take up all your precious time and effort. Today I’m covering everything you need to know about the ugly trolls and how to best avoid those who will simply waste your time day in and day out.

Time Wasters and trolls

Time Wasters and Trolls on Webcam

We all know them and none of us love them. They are the notorious time wasters and trolls that come in and invade our lives and our cam rooms.

Time Wasters Will Cost You

We’ll start with the easy. Time wasters are exactly what they sound like. Dudes that come into your room and gobble up your time for free like it’s an all-you-can-eat buffet special. (Excuse me? No free refills here!) They will come in your room and I’ll be honest, some of them are downright friendly as hell.

They’ll get you talking and hanging out, and before you know it, a week has gone by. Then, just when you feel like you could list off all of his hobbies in chronological order because he never shuts the F*$# up, you realize…. he’s never spent a dime. Not a single penny. What in the actual hell is life.

I would love to tell you that these are far and few between, but the fact of the matter is that you will probably deal with more time wasters than any other type of person combined. It is, unfortunately, just another part of the job, comes with the territory, so it’s best if you learn how to spot them and nip them in the bud right away.

How To Limit Freeloaders

I find that the easiest way to limit the freeloaders is to explain the rules of your room, or the rules of your show by using the peanut butter and jelly method. Don’t know what that is?

The Peanut Butter and Jelly method is a way to teach people how to do things in the most extremely literal sense possible. Things that most people would omit because they assume that it is common sense, all of a sudden don’t apply.

You do the method by having all the ingredients for a tasty PB & J. Subject A is going to make it while Subject B tells them how.

Subject B: “Get two pieces of bread”

You would think that would be enough, but since Subject A has to take every instruction literally and cannot do anything extra, they have no way to get the bread out of the bag. What Subject B should have said is:

“Untie the twist tie for the loaf of bread. Open the bag. Reach in the bag and grab 2 pieces of bread. Take the bread and lay it on the plate.”

It’s the same analogy with listing out what is and what is not acceptable. For example, my public email is set to send an automatic response to every email it receives. The automatic response lists a separate email to send to if they are wanting to book a skype show or order a custom video.

It lists out what the email should include and when they can expect a response in return. It also tells them where to go to get merchandise such as my Snapchat, posters, panties, etc. And different payment options.

It Really Does Help – A Ton

I cannot even begin to explain to you how helpful this has been in saving me time and energy. If people aren’t serious about purchasing your product, they probably won’t take the type to type out ANOTHER email to send to a different source, or they won’t go to the site and actually purchase the item.

It’s almost like a security blanket to the emails I do receive on my other account. I know that they are sincerely interested because they have taken the time to contact me where it was stated.

Regulars Time Suck Too

The other thing you need to watch out for is when regulars are time wasters. I wish that this never happened, but it does. They will start hanging out in your room, and I honestly think that sometimes they feel like they are your friend so they don’t need to tip anymore. They forget that you’re working.

Take it as a compliment, you’re so damn good at hustling these guys that they forget you’re even doing a job! (But even when you take it as a compliment, remind them that they can either pay room rent or they can GTFO)

The Trolls Suck BIG TIME!

On top of the horrible time wasters, you can also count on the notorious trolls to come through with their talons, trying to bash everything in sight and leave you in a bloody, guts everywhere, heaping mess on the floor. Sometimes they are so good at finding that one thing that is your weak spot that it’s almost unbelievable.

The only thing that I can really tell you is that you need to develop thick skin to be a cam model. There’s no way around it, if you are sensitive then they will sense it and they will come into your room, and they will eat you alive.

You’ll be curled up in a crying, sobbing mess at the end of the night. You need to grow a pair, build up those walls and keep them reinforced with mother f*%$ing nuclear weapons. You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT give a damn about what other people are going to be saying about you. They will pick on everything, even if it isn’t true. IF you give them a reaction, then you are doing exactly what they want.

How To Have Fun w/ Trolls

If you want to have some real fun with trolls, when they come in your room, play along with whatever they are saying. Turn it around on them so that your entire room is laughing at them. It works surprisingly well. The trolls either leave because you are un-trollable or sometimes (and this is my favorite) they turn into paying customers. Now I’ll drink to that. I’m all about the conversions, baby.

Keep in mind that both time wasters and trolls will always be a part of camming. Without them, we would take for granted the genuinely amazing clients that cross our paths. With them, we are stronger and more badass bitches who ain’t nothin’ to F*%& with.

The Different Types Of Webcam Girls

If you’re a cam girl and you’re concerned about not fitting in, then fear not! There are plenty of different types of webcam girls who are streaming daily. These girls are no different from you and I want you to understand the various types of girls who cam regularly. This article covers that and then some.

Types of Cam Girls

Different Types of Cam Girls

The Anonymous Cam girl: A model who likes to stay anonymous, log on, make that money, and then be done for the day. They may run a Twitter account or an Instagram, but usually keep it private and don’t promote much, other than to have a place where their regulars and fans can find them and keep in touch outside of their cam times.

The “CeWEBrity” Cam Model: A model that wants to create a brand and maximize earning potential/accessibility etc., by creating a demand for that brand.

The Pornstar Webcam Girl: This is a girl who is not afraid to do porn or create hardcore content. She’s well known and often already cashes in major on OnlyFans, FanTime, ManyVids, and Camsoda.

All the types are badass bitches who hustle and make those dollar, dollar bills y’all (can I get an AMEN!?) However, for the sake of me saving you time (since we all know that time is money) I’m going to put a DISCLAIMER on this one.

This article is going to be focusing on branding; specifically through cross-promotion, so if you’re wanting to slay that anonymous lifestyle, you might not find much to help you out here. (Except for the endorphins that reading this will no doubt create.)

Branding For Different Types Of Cam Models

In my opinion, cross-promotion is hands down one of the most important aspects of branding and all-around brand awareness, which will result in increased sales of your product. (Your product is your content, your cam shows, and most important of them all: YOU)

Personally, I am on the following social media platforms:

*Twitter

*Instagram

*Snapchat

*Periscope

*Tumblr – Not as active as I once was here.

*TikTok – This is the latest social craze and it’s taking the world by storm. Keep a close watch on this!

I know what some of you are thinking. Why so many? That sounds like it will take a lot of time that could be spent camming or doing other things. While I agree that it is time-consuming (and secretly I hate all social media) it’s a necessary evil to both the demand and accessibility of your brand.

If you aren’t already, I highly recommend being on every platform possible. (save for Facebook, but that’s a whole different article)

This brings me to my next point. The basics of economics, supply, and demand. The supply is your product and the demand is created by you.

In this day and age, and especially in the adult industry you MUST create your own demand. Nobody else is going to do it for you, and this is a situation where the phrase “I get out of it what I put into it” should be your mantra.

Nobody knows what they want to buy until you tell them. Why is the iPhone so popular? The company always builds up to the release date. Apple creates the demand and then supplies the product. You should be doing the same thing and the way to do it is free. Cross Promotion.

Overview Of An Average Day On Social Media

Here’s an average day for me on social media:

Step 1.) Say good morning on Snapchat and let them know I’ll be on Periscope in 10 min (insert Periscope name and Twitter handle so they know where to go)

Step 2.) Get on Periscope and live broadcast for a few minutes. When I am about to log off I tell them to follow me on Snapchat if they want to see what I’m doing through the day. If I’m about to go live on cam I tell them where they can go sign up to keep hanging out with me. (Make sure you aren’t spamming, the key is subtlety.)

Step 3.) Log onto Twitter and have promoters RT “Live Periscope stream” and quote the tweet myself saying if they missed me, to follow so they catch it next time! This will get more people to re-play my broadcast, give me hearts and increase my popularity making the broadcast reach more people.

Step 4.) Post a pic on Snapchat saying the same thing “Miss me on Periscope? Broadcast is still available! Go watch it now!”

Step 5.) Save the pic from Snapchat and post it on Instagram telling them to follow my Twitter and add me on Periscope so they can talk with me live.

Step 6) Post on Snapchat/Twitter/Instagram through the day with links to where they can find me on other platforms. (Ex. Post a pic on Twitter and write the link to your Instagram. Post a pic on Instagram and tell them where to find you on Twitter.)

Step 7.) End the night with an after-cam session on Periscope. (these can be quick. 5-10 minutes) Saying goodnight, having inside jokes with the guys who were hanging out in my cam room.. Creating demand of people wanting to have the same type of “friendship” with me.

… you get the idea. Everything is connected and people want to feel like they know you. Branding is all about injecting personality in a product and YOU are the product that you will be convincing them to invest in. (and yes, I use the word invest. To you, it’s a consumer making a purchase…

To everyone who is parting with that $10-$50-$100, it’s an investment of their money to receive something they are hoping will be worth it in the long run, and will continue to invest in if it is. There is an initial risk factor for the buyer that should always be taken into consideration.)

Conclusion: A Few Things To Remember

All of that being said, there are a few important things to remember. You MUST master the art of subtle selling. Don’t push it in their faces, and don’t only post links to where they can purchase products. People don’t invest in desperation, they invest in something that everyone wants.

The trick is to create the illusion that everything is their idea, while always keeping it fresh in their minds. Subliminal Perception, if you will. Ever hear about how back in the old days they would insert quick flashes of Coca-cola products or a picture of popcorn in movie previews? It would happen so fast you wouldn’t consciously know that you were seeing it, however, some studies showed that it would increase the volume in sales at the concession stands. They did the same thing in World War II, with subliminal messaging by using a tachistoscope (a machine that projects images extremely briefly and rapidly) to teach soldiers how to spot enemy planes.

Cross-promotion is, in essence, the same idea. By constantly putting yourself in their faces, it will create a sense of familiarity in their mind. You’ll notice people start to WANT to see you in their faces, so much so that they will start putting you in OTHER peoples’ faces, who will then want to find out more about you and see if they also want you all up in their grill. Alas, with cross-promotion you have created a virtual snowball effect.

Damn, see all that demand? You created that ish. Now be proud and keep yourself there.

Getting Started And Becoming A Cam Model

I cover a lot of things related to camming and streaming live. However, many models just don’t know where to start. This article covers some of the basics to help you understand what’s needed to get started.

getting started as a webcam model

Getting Started Being A Webcam Model

These steps are in order, so best to follow the order. Read through everything then take action…

What To Do First

So you want to be a cam model? Now that you’ve made that decision, it’s time to get yourself all set up. If you don’t already have high-speed internet, it’s time to upgrade. Your internet speed plays a big factor in your ranking on almost every cam site. To test your current internet speed, run a speed test at www.speedtest.net.

The main thing you’re gonna want to look at is your upload speed. If it’s below 1.0 Mbps, you’re gonna want to upgrade to something faster. This will not only make your cam stream run smoothly but will also reduce the delay in your chat room when interacting with fans.

Next Step

The next step is getting a laptop or desktop computer that can run the software needed to cam. Every cam site has its own software, and there’s even additional webcam software that you can download from the internet.

Some are more advanced than others and require a faster computer. If your computer remains near 100% CPU or lags when running your camming software, it may be time to upgrade. A computer with an i7 processor (or its equivalent) and 3 GB of RAM or more is recommended for optimal performance.

If possible, it’s also a good idea to use a wired connection. It’s usually faster, and much more reliable than going wireless. To set up a wired connection, you just connect your computer to your modem or router using an ethernet cable.

Next Up – The Webcam

We can’t forget about the webcam itself! Even if you have a newer laptop with a built-in camera, you aren’t going to get the quality that you get with an external webcam. Aside from that, it’s nice to be able to pick up and move your camera around for some shows.

There are two webcams that every established cam model will recommend. The first is the Logitech C920. You can pick one up on Amazon for around $70-$75. It’s a great camera that shoots in full 1080p HD. If you’re looking for a camera with some extra features, the Logitech BCC950 Conference Cam is a great option.

This camera also shoots in full 1080p HD. One of the perks of this camera is the remote control that it comes with. With the remote, you can move your camera in all directions and zoom in and out without having to physically move your whole camera.

It has a noise-canceling microphone built into it, so your fans will be able to hear you loud and clear even if you’re moving around, dancing, far away, etc. This cam is a bit more expensive though. On Amazon, it will run you around $200.

The Lighting Comes Next

So you’ve done all the upgrades, but your cam stream is still looking dark or grainy. Good lighting can make all the difference! Natural lighting is great if you’re camming during the day, but professional lighting works just as well… day or night!

You can find inexpensive, professional webcam lighting on Amazon. There are some decent ones on there for around $50. When positioning your lights, you’ll want to place your light sources in front of you, behind your webcam.

This way it’ll light up your face and make you look vibrant. You may need to adjust the height or position of your lights to prevent glare, especially if you wear glasses. But with just a little tinkering, you’ll be able to get it just right. Never use fluorescent lighting! You may think it’ll work well because of how bright it can be, but it’s very unflattering on cam.
